of the insureNXT
Innovators Award 2024

Cologne / May 15, 2024 - Cologne-based technology company Ubirch is pleased to announce that it is among the finalists for this year's insureNXT Innovators Award in the “Cross Industry Bridgebuilder” category. The award recognizes outstanding innovations that have the potential to change the insurance industry for good.

In a highly competitive field with 61 submissions, UBIRCH was selected by a top-class jury for its innovative solution to reduce ESG Scope 3 emissions through improved data sharing and AI support. This solution enables companies to effectively share and manage ESG Scope 3 data, increasing the availability of reliable data and making it easier for reporting companies to control and reduce their environmental impact.

Stephan Noller, CEO of UBIRCH GmbH. “This nomination is a confirmation of our hard work and innovation in the field of digital transformation and sustainability.” UBIRCH stands alongside renowned companies such as EMIL Group GmbH, Swisscom and Philips in this category.

Eva Rübhausen, Director of insureNXT: “The future of the insurance industry will be shaped by innovation. With the insureNXT Innovators Award, we honor companies whose creative solutions have the potential to change the industry in the long term. Congratulations to all the finalists whose outstanding innovations are the focus of this year's final!”

The finalists will present their projects in final pitches on May 28, 2024 at insureNXT, a leading conference for innovation in the insurance industry. The winners will be announced and honored at a ceremony.

Ubirch CEO Stephan Noller and Torsten Dahmen, Senior Innovation Manager at E.ON Group Innovation, will give a joint presentation on May 28, 2024 at 2:30 p.m. to discuss a new EU directive that will require companies to document their electricity consumption using two different methods from this year: the “market-based” and the “location-based” method. The “market-based” method, which corresponds to previous green electricity tariffs and shows a balance sheet zero in the ESG report, as it does not cause any emissions. In addition, companies must now also report “location-based” consumption, which reflects the actual electricity mix that is available locally. This will generally deviate from the ideal zero, particularly due to regional differences in electricity production in Germany. Noller and Dahmen will present how companies can act sustainably with smart electricity tariffs and strategic consumption management.

About Ubirch:
The German technology company Ubirch has created the ESG Data Exchange Network so that companies and their suppliers can easily and audit-proof fulfill the EU requirements for ESG data in sustainability reports from 2024. It is therefore a crucial CSRD process component and enables transparency and climate protection through the exchange of machine-readable ESG data that can be used directly in operations. Both data suppliers and data collectors can thus reduce their costs and become more efficient. The purpose of the ESG Data Exchange Network is to provide ESG data for Scope 3 of the CSRD once for all customers or to receive it uniformly from all suppliers.
Ubirch specializes in the digital verification of data and was founded in 2016. Together with a consortium, the company developed the EU's Digital COVID Certificate for Germany. Further information can be found at www.ubirch.com
